National Contingency Plan for Volcanic Eruption
rwanda, Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs
2019rwandaNational DevelopmentOther
The contingency plan relates to the western part of Rwanda mostly and Rwanda generally. The western part sits close to a region prone to eruption from two active volcanoes. It notes the eruption of one of the volcanoes in 2002, which although did not elicit lava flow into Rwanda, led to the influx of people into Rwanda. The plan thus seeks to beef up Rwanda's preparedness and response systems towards any future occurrence. It clearly spells out the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders if such need arises.
